Key Insights from the Technology Sector

1. Ethical Knowledge Gaps Only 42% of respondents feel that their colleagues are sufficiently equipped with ethical knowledge. This reveals a systemic need for ongoing professional development within the sector.

2. Necessary Topics The survey identifies a clear hierarchy of training needs:

  • Sector-Specific: AI Ethics and Data Privacy are the top priorities.

  • General Professional: Diversity, Inclusion, and Corporate Social Responsibility are increasingly recognized as essential components of modern engineering.

3. Training Preferences Professionals in the technology sector favor practical, case-based learning. There is a strong preference for interactive formats like workshops and seminars over static, lecture-based training.

Methodology

The non-academic survey reached 138 participants, providing a robust snapshot of the current state of ethics in the European technology industry. The highest response rates came from Türkiye (46%), followed by Greece (29%) and Germany (11%).
