Gap Analysis
Despite the high value placed on ethics in science and technology, our research identifies a persistent gap between theoretical knowledge and professional application. The ETHICS4CHALLENGES project addresses these discrepancies with evidence-based recommendations for both higher education and the global technology sector.
Section 2: The Roadmap
Section 3: Sector-Specific Focus Areas
Based on our findings, we recommend the following tailored topics for different technology sectors:
| Sector | Recommended Ethics Focus |
| Digitalization | Data privacy, AI ethics, and Corporate Social Responsibility. |
| Biomedicalization | Healthcare ethics, compliance, and clinical trial transparency. |
| Environmental Tech | Engineering ethics, environmental sustainability, and data privacy. |
Section 4: Key Pedagogical Shift
For the Academic Sector, the “Active Method” is the most recommended path. While undergraduate acquisition of skills like “Ethical Judgement” is currently moderate, the use of Case Studies (93.6% effectiveness rate) and Problem-Based Learning is the recommended strategy to bridge the gap.
