ETHICS4CHALLENGES PROJECT DISSEMINATION EVENT: METU
On 20 November 2025, the ETHICS4CHALLENGES project held a dissemination event at the METU Culture and Convention Center, Hall D, in Ankara. The event brought together researchers, educators, and students to present the main results of the project and to discuss the role of ethics education in addressing major technological and scientific challenges .
The programme opened with a keynote lecture by Diana Adela Martin from University College London. Her talk set the tone for the event by addressing current challenges in ethics education and the need to connect ethical reflection with real-world technological developments.
Following the keynote, the project team presented the core outcomes of ETHICS4CHALLENGES. Halil Turan introduced the project, outlining its objectives and its focus on environmental, biomedical, and digital challenges. Gülizar Karahan Balya presented key findings on ethics education and training, highlighting gaps identified in both academic and non-academic sectors. Büşra Akkökler Karatekin introduced the Online Educational Platform, which serves as the central output of the project and provides access to a wide range of resources for flexible ethics education pathways.
The event also included a presentation by Huzeyfe Demirtaş on the Embedded EthiCS program at Harvard University. This contribution offered an example of how ethics can be integrated into existing curricula in a structured and sustainable way.
The dissemination event provided a space for sharing results, exchanging experiences, and reflecting on future directions. Participants engaged with the project’s approach to modular and flexible ethics education, as well as its emphasis on interdisciplinary and practice-oriented learning.
Overall, the event strengthened the visibility of the project and supported its goal of making ethics education more accessible, adaptable, and relevant to current societal challenges.
