Feminist and applied approaches in teaching Ethics
Stakeholder integration poses complex challenges in academia and practice, especially when reconciling diverse, often conflicting interests. While stakeholder maps theoretically aid student understanding, applying these concepts to actual stakeholder dialogue is difficult. Beyond industry and academia, true collaboration with NGOs, artists, and activists is needed, avoiding tokenism and ensuring reciprocity. Academia’s oversimplified narratives about marginalized groups can perpetuate subjugation, but transdisciplinary research offers a remedy. The Berlin ethics lab’s work with startups shows that ethical considerations can align with business goals, enhancing products ethically without sacrificing profit. Despite progress, finding methods to include more diverse groups remains an ongoing effort.
